What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
I went to three concerts of bands I'd not seen live, yet I'd been a fan of since high school: The Dreaming (Christopher Hall = Stabbing Westward vocalist), and Nine Inch Nails (twice)
Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Life's always a work in progress, but for the most part, yes. I suppose I need to sit and plan out what I'd like to accomplish this year.
Did anyone close to you give birth?
Not exactly close, but a high school friend had a baby back in the Fall.
Did anyone close to you die?/b>
Yes. I literally lost all of my Grandmothers. Travis's Grandmother passed away last New Year's, and both of my own only a month apart during Fall. :(
What countries did you visit?
I didn't go to a different country, but I did drive almost 9 hours to Lexington, KY.
What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
I'd love to start building my house
What date from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
November 4th, for obvious reasons. As well as November 1st.
What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Maintaining my weight for over 6 months
What was your biggest failure?
Not exercising for those same 6 months *facepalm*
Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nope. Being in shape is awesome for your health.
What was the best thing you bought?
A tie between Warhammer Online and our vacation in the Outer Banks.
Whose behavior merited celebration?
Many friends of mine who decided to vote this year.
Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My own for bleaching my hair back in March
Where did most of your money go?
mortgage, food, games
What did you get really, really, really excited about?
The election; The Dreaming; Nine Inch Nails (still excited!)
What song(s) will always remind you of 2008?
Because of the election and seeing NIN three days before it, The Hand that Feeds will probably remind me of this year.
Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder?
Happier because of several medical/health issues that are being resolved after several years
ii. thinner or fatter?
Thinner. I lost another 20 pounds this year.
iii. richer or poorer?
Richer. That credit card debt should be gone soon.
What do you wish you'd done more?
Exercise. Getting around to studying some of the extraneous subjects I've found interest in.
What do you wish you'd done less of?
Complaining
What was your favorite TV program?
Tie between the only things I watch on tv: Sanctuary and the Olympics
Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Don't be hatin'
What was the best book you read?
I think the only book I read was "Tales of Beedle the Bard". It wasn't a year of reading much for me.
What was your greatest musical discovery?
The Dreaming, Modwheelmood, Crystal Castles, and I feel like I discovered Nine Inch Nails all over again this year
What did you want and get?
A quiet vacation in the Outer Banks that Travis and I both enjoyed immensely
What was your favorite film of this year?
The Dark Knight
What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
26. I got to go see Hellboy 2: The Golden Army.
What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
building my house (although I might take that back once I actually do, lol)
How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
I donated everything in my closet. I now have clothes that fit and flatter me. I'm much pickier about what I wear, so it's a slow build. For several months I was interested in lolita fashion, but ultimately I don't care about fashion enough to pursue it.
What kept you sane?
Travis, my guild, and outlets like forums
Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Who else but Trent Reznor?
What political issue stirred you the most?
*agrees with Nick* Specifically I think it's time to do more about the gay marriage situation.
Who did you miss?
I'm really missing friends I haven't seen in years (i.e. college and internet). And I miss my Grandmothers.
Who was the best new person you met?
All the members of my guild that I get to chat and play with nightly: Ren, Doug, Pete, Danny, Mike (Sisko), Mike, Tim, and others.
Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008
It's ok to put something down and come back to it when you're ready. There's no sense working on something when you're angry or distracted. Wait until you can devote your time, interest, and love to it.
What was the nicest thing someone told you about yourself:
I still get comments from friends and coworkers about my weight loss. I've really learned how to take a compliment.
The most touching experience you've had this year?
Meeting Christopher Hall (of Stabbing Westward and now The Dreaming) in March. He honestly took a moment of his life to meet me and speak with me.
What did you like most about yourself this year?
I did a load of planning that I actually followed through on.
What did you hate most about yourself this year?
My neglect of personal hobbies that are relaxing
How are you different now that the year has ended?
I'm ready to get back into exercise, and I have a continuing urge to experience concert-going and travel. (Not just for NIN, but for Cirque du Soleil and others)

Not a lyric, but a song that sums up how I felt about this year is "Another Version of the Truth" from NIN's Year Zero album. It evokes a feeling a hope for me, which is what I had a lot of this year and was rarely disappointed.
What are your plans for 2009?
Write/journal/reflect, exercise, knit, study new subjects (language, religion, psychology), love unconditionally
What are your wishes for the new year?
For the economy to pick up so that I can finally get a loan to build my house
